The Indian Premier League began in the year 2008, and it had eight teams. The original teams that started the IPL were Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals, and Deccan Chargers. Rajasthan Royals took the cup home. Indians have always shown their dedication towards watching every match of IPL live video, matches & highlights.
The journey of IPL has been a long and exciting one. There were some teams that were removed while others were added to the list. Now for IPL 2021, there may be an addition of 2 new ones, which will increase the total number from 8 to 10. Seeing your state team play in the IPL anywhere and everywhere would be an exciting experience. Here are a few of the prospective state teams that we can see this season!
- Ahmedabad of Gujarat
Ahmedabad has the highest chances of receiving an IPL team. It is because Ahmedabad has the newly renovated Motera Stadium that is considered to be the world’s largest cricket stadium. It has a seating capacity of 110,000. There was a time when Gujarat had its team. Unfortunately, it only lasted for two years. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were not allowed to play for the years 2016 and 2017 as a result of the 2013 betting and spot-fixing scandal. That is when Gujarat Lions were born.
- Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is the most popular and the most populated state in the country. It is infamous for its daily news. While the dedication of every state towards IPL is commendable, UP has its charm. Also, the fact that it is the most populated state means that it has several fans. Which also gives it a great reason to have its team. And it is a no-brainer that it would also have the most talent because of the sheer number of people living in that state.
- Indore of Madhya Pradesh
MP has several fans that are passionate about cricket and IPL. The Holkar Stadium in Indore has a capacity of around 30,000 people. The state has given India some of its most famous players like C. K. Nayudu, Syed Mushtaq Ali, Narendra Hirwani, Rajesh Chauhan, & Amay Khurasiya.
- Ranchi of Jharkhand
For Ranchi’s association with cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has set the record straight and established the city in cricket’s history. The fact that Dhoni has originated from Ranchi is enough to ratify the state to build its team. People who love Jharkhand and appreciate the sport as well as IPL so much more because of him.
- Kochi of Kerala
Although we did see Kochi as a team (Kochi Tuskers Kerala) on IPL live TV in 2011, the franchise was terminated by the BCCI because it had failed to give the bank assurance. It was a tragic moment for every Keralite. The team had played 14 matches in its one-year stint in the league and managed to win six of them. Now that there is a chance for two teams to be introduced, Kochi may just have a shot.
