After much delay and uncertainty, BCCI has finally announced the schedule for Dream 11 IPL 2020 on Sunday, September 6. The 13th season of IPL will be held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah in the UAE from September 19.
The COVID-19 pandemic first led to the tournament being postponed but then later the authorities, forced by the current scenario in INDIA decided that the tournament must be played out of India.
The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world and in 2014 ranked sixth by average attendance among all sports leagues. In the previous season a total of 60 players were finally purchased by various franchises out of 351. 40 of them were Indians, while the remaining 20 were International players. The total money spent on these 60 players was 1,06,80,00,000.
But the things are different this year, in 2020 the players who missed IPL 2019 are among the five most expensive players.
As per the IPL website a total of 997 players are registered for the 2020 VIVO IPL Player Auction out of which 338 were shortlisted as requested by the 8 IPL franchises.
A total of 190 Indian players, 145 overseas players & 3 players from Associate Nations have been added to the list. The T20 paves a path for those who ‘multi-task’ by making them to stay in demand.
Like every year, the top bidders have put the finest “all-rounders” into their basket. Here are few pre-eminent players.
Nathan Coulter- The list starts with Nile, who is the Top 5th Player been auctioned for 8 crores.
The fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile once again fetched big deal in the IPL auction. Defending champions Mumbai Indians have spent a massive INR 8 Crores for the services of Nathan Coulter-Nile.
The high-profile franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings went for him for the 2020 season. Not only he is a player with best bowling skills, but also has proven to be a very handy batsman in the matches.
Nathan Coulter-Nile will join the Defenders along with fellow Australian all-rounder Chris Lynn.
Sheldon Cottrell: He is on the 4th Place with A Price Of – 8.5 Crores
The “SALUTE” fever of Sheldon Cottrell is again set to win hearts of his fans in the Indian Premier League this season. This will be the first season for Sheldon Cottrell in the Indian Premier League. Sheldon Cottrell, at a base price of 50 Lakhs, attracted a bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab before Delhi Capitals. However, Punjab eventually got to be the one to acquire the services of the left-arm seamer for a whopping INR 8.5 crore.
In T20Is for West Indies, Cottrell has 30 wickets in 22 matches at a strike-rate of 15.2. The economy reads 8.09. He will join the great legend Chris Gayle at the Kings XI Punjab franchise.
Chris Morris: He is on Third Place with a Price of-10 Crores
Three franchises went after him with intense bidding. The bidding price accelerated when Royal Challengers and Royal challengers Bangalore increased their efforts to bag Morris. But it was RCB who ultimately got their hands on the Proteas all-rounder for a whopping INR 10 Crore. The all-rounder will be very useful for the team with the ball and delivery in the middle-order.
Glenn Maxwell: He is on the Second Place with a Price of -10.75 crores
The auction started with a base price of 2 crores for Maxwell. The all-rounder is bagged by the Kings XI Punjab for a massive INR 10.75 Cr. intense bidding took place between Delhi Capitals and Punjab for him.
In 2014, he single-handedly took his team to the finale.
He didn’t feature in last year’s IPL though has a decent record in the league. In the 2018 season, he scored 310 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 173.
Pat Cummins:
The Topmost Expensive Player of Dream 11 IPL 2020 is Pat Cummins with the Bidding Price of Rs. 15.5 Crores.
The right-handed all-rounder Pat Cummins of Australia is the biggest winner of IPL 2020 Auction. the base price of him was INR. 2 Crore but at the end was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 15.5, beating the Ben Stokes price (14.4 crores), cummins has set the record of being the most expensive international buy in the history of IPL. Pat Cummins has taken 32 wickets in 25 IPL matches so far with an economy of just over 6.
